FireSide Cider (2 drinks)
I always crave a warm apple cider during the cold winter months. Growing up in New England, there was always an abundance of local apple drinks and treats around. So we created an adult version: a delicious cider cocktail recipe as a special shoutout to my New Hampshire roots. Make it hot or cold depending on what season you're drinking this bevy in. It hits the spot either way.
ingredients
4 the cocktail
3 oz of your favorite Gin
4 oz Local Apple Cider
1 oz Lemon Juice
1 oz Honey Syrup
2 dashes of Orange Bitters (optional)
4 the syrup
0.5 oz Honey
0.5 oz warm water
garnish?
Apple slices or Blood Orange
Instructions
Gently heat the apple cider in a small saucepan over low heat until warm but not boiling (about 3 minutes).
Remove from heat and stir in honey syrup and lemon juice.
Add gin and stir gently (don’t heat the gin directly, as alcohol evaporates at high heat!).
Pour into two heat-safe mugs or glass mugs.
Add 2 dashes of orange bitters (if using).
Garnish with thin apple slices or a blood orange wheel.
Warm Version
Fill a shaker with ice.
Add gin, apple cider, lemon juice, honey syrup, and orange bitters (if using).
Shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
Strain into two rocks glasses over fresh ice.
Garnish with thin sliced apples or blood orange.
Cold Version
Snow Patrol (2 Drinks)
When we were testing the recipe for this cocktail we accidentally forgot the lime juice, which caused us to need saving from the real ski patrol. When created correctly, this is a tasty cocktail that can be enjoyed all year long. If you try this without the lime, feel free to recommend fun alternatives to make this cocktail work. But seriously, we recommend the lime.
